Grass Beds, Slicks and Big Speckled Trout Fishing South Mississippi Barrier Islands

#inshorefishing #trout #SpotsDots 6-14-2021 Got a decent start on the morning but not a crack of dawn start. Headed out after trout and found them quick. Caught 6 nice trout within 10 minutes of fishing and caught the rest of what we wanted to keep in about another 30 minutes. We only wanted 10 but one was hooked bad and wasn’t going to make it so we kept 11. Also kept 2 nice flounders and a Spanish mackerel which was the biggest one I’ve seen since I can remember. Trout were not holding tight to the shore line this trip but instead were in around 4 to 5 feet of water. Water was not as clean as last trip either. Still had to find the slicks and cast behind them or else you were just waisting time. We used a quick retrieve with a slight pause and bump of the rod and a straight retrieve. Lures were Matrix Shad Ultra Violet and Mega Ultra Violet, Sev7n baits Willy Wacker and King Cake Vodka swim bait and H20 Xpress croaker. After catching the trout we decided to move around and try different things just to see how the bite was in different areas. It didn’t go how we wanted it but we did get the 2 flounders and Mackerel after the move.
