Reel On Real Episode 2: X2 on LGBTQ Rights

On September 18, 2020, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg passed away. On September 26, President Trump nominated covervative Justice Amy Coney Barret to be Ginsburg’s successor. Many LGBTQ right groups have exxpressed concern that Barret’s position on the Supreme Court may be harmful to their community due to views she’s expressed in the past. On May 2, 2003, X2: X-Men United came out. Based on the Marvel Comics characters, the movie shows the mutant superhero team fighting against the U.S. government’s plot to exterminate them. On Episode 2 of Reel on Real Issues, we explore if we can gleam any insights about the plight of the LGBTQ community by examining the plight of the mutants.
