Marion Ross statue going up in Albert Lea

(ABC 6 News) - The 92-year-old Hollywood icon, Marion Ross, is in town over the holiday weekend for the unveiling of her bronze statue in downtown Albert Lea. Ross is best known for her role as Marion Cunningham on the ABC television sitcom 'Happy Days' filmed from 1974 to 1984. "This is another really not quite real moment in my life," Ross says. "Albert Lea, Minnesota here at the lake? Oh, wow!" A local Albert Lea committee has been fundraising for over two years to complete this project. The unveiling of the statue is on Friday at 5:30 p.m. on the sidewalk in front of the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center in Albert Lea (147 N Broadway). It is open to the public to see and take pictures with the statue and with Marion after the program. A reception will follow at the 3 Oak Winery (73505 225th St, Albert Lea), with food trucks, wine, & more time with Marion. Marion Ross will also be serving as the Grand Marshal of the 3rd of July parade "Happier Days Ahead", starting at 6pm. All are invited to attend.
