Afghan children watching Canadian soldier A suicide car bomber targeted a NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organisation) convoy in southern Afghanistan on Wednesday, wounding seven civilians, officials said. No NATO troops were injured in the suicide blast west of Kandahar city and one vehicle in the convoy was damaged, said Canadian military. "What we had here was a suicide attack on a Canadian convoy, there were civilian casualties, I don't know exactly how many," said a Canadian military spokesman on the scene. Kandahar police said that seven civilian bystanders were wounded in the blast. The latest violence comes as NATO and Afghan troops are pushing on with their largest-ever anti-Taliban offensive in Afghanistan, Operation Achilles, launched last month to flush out Taliban militants from the northern tip of Helmand province.
