THE PRECEPTOR BMK Dr. Mangalampalli Balamuralikrishna (BMK) is a well known and an accomplished Vaggéyakāra; a poet, weaver of fine fabric of music with syllables and notes for its threads; a supremely talented tunesmith; a musician par excellence with an unquenchable quest for innovation; a singer who constantly unearthed unheard compositions and rāgas; and a performer who facilitated his listeners to advance in their music listening experience by enhancing their knowledge through his rich renditions. But, what perhaps is unknown is the facet of his being a great music teacher too. This audio offering lets the listeners discover the preceptor in BMK, an aspect only his disciples knew. ABOUT THE RECORDING & RESTORATION We are very grateful to Sri. D V Mohana Krishna (DVM) for sharing this recording from his private collection, in the spirit of music for posterity. These recordings of the interactive sessions done by a student had for their primary objective the teachings and not audio quality. A diligent effort has been made to restore them.
