As we travel through the history of fortresses, castles and forts we must visit Feste Wagner. It was constructed by the Germans after the Franco Prussian war in 1870. But not until after valuable lessons were learned at Feste De Mutzig we visited earlier. Now with all the most modern facilities and weapons of the day an amazing fortress was constructed. A fort that survived 2 great wars and being bombed by the US Air-force, yet still remains here. And despite its modern design there are still remnants of Medieval fortress construction and designs. That makes this a fascinating place. This was so well made it was a large inspiration for the Maginot Line forts after WW1 - and it is being slowly restored by an amazing group of people and is so large I had to make 2 episodes just to cover half of the fort. It is a must see place. Please like and follow it really helps me continue bringing these from around the world to you.
