(7 Nov 2018) ALYSSA MILANO GREETS DEMOCRATIC CAMPAIGN WORKERS IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA Alyssa Milano greeted Democratic campaign workers in Southern California on Election Day, cheering on activists who were making calls and urging everyone to vote. "It doesn't work without active participation. It challenges us and it empowers us, but at the end of the day, democracy really is us. So I came by today to say thank you so much," Milano told the activists and workers in Huntington Beach on Tuesday (6 NOVEMBER). The actress' online activism helped ignite the Me Too movement a year ago and she was visible in the room at the Supreme Court nomination hearings for Justice Brettt Kavanaugh. She said the Me Too movement would have an impact at the ballot box. "I think that women are angry and upset. And now we are watching the Republican Party try to strip away our rights. There are three different states that have anti-abortion measures on the ballots this year. Which is kind of scary. So yeah, I think women are scared. I think we are scared that our rights are going to be taken away," Milano said. She spoke with media after posing for pictures with the campaign workers and volunteers. "Are celebrities getting involved? I don't know. Sometimes I feel like I'm the lone wolf out there. I don't know. I think anytime anyone gets involved -- whether they be a celebrity or not -- doesn't matter if you're platform is six around the dinner table or 3 million on Twitter, we all have to be a part of this process," she said. "So I've been driving people to the polls all day. By the end of the day, I will have been in six different districts driving people to the polls. I've been doing it for 20 years and it's something I really, really love to do." Milano's visit was to the campaign offices of Democratic candidate Harley Rouda, running against incumbent U.S. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher in California's 48th congressional district.
