ELIoT Demonstrator – LiFi and 5G Integration

ELIoT demonstrates optical wireless communication (Light Fidelity - #LiFi) in different scenarios. In this video the seamless integration of LiFi into a 5G network is shown. The scenario targets an industrial environment, where LiFi hot spots will be built around machines and 5G covers the whole shop floor. This enables high-speed data transmission close to the machines with LiFi, e.g. for videos and monitoring purposes, and at the same time, high mobility and flexibility through the radio network. If many IoT devices communicate in a confined space, the demand for radio frequencies will increase much faster than previously expected. With LiFi, the ELIOT consortium explores a networked wireless communication technology operating in the previously unused light spectrum, besides Wi-Fi and cellular radio.
