Uganda and Rwanda armies have on a few occasions faced off in combat and this has been at least not at any of their own turf. It should be remembered that Uganda army UPDF faced off with Rwandas RDF in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo in Kisangani on 16th August 1999. There are different tales of this war story each side claiming victory. According to Rwanda, the RDF was able to over run UPDF in a fierce street battle but this is after the later was ambushed Uganda believes the war broke out as a response to the ambush that Rwanda army had orchestrated for some time. While UPDF returned fire, the front line commander then, late Kazini received instructions from the President of Uganda, Museveni not to fight but only to defend themselves. Since then, there is and has always been a debate on who is more powerful than the other when it comes to military. The debate rages on and on and today at As a matter of fact, we decide to break the deadlock to show you who is who between Uganda and Rwanda and we shall continue to bring you more country comparisons. GFP and face look will give you their own stats depending on their determining factors and they will tell you that only 36 countries in Africa are considered for review hence meaning that those countries are absolutely militarily powerless to defend their territories either. As a matter of fact, we look deeper beyond what GFP can see to bring you fair and balanced military comparison through our sources in different countries in Africa. For 2022, Uganda is ranked 92 of 142 out of the countries considered for the annual GFP review with a PwrIndx* score of 2.2436 while Rwanda is one of the many African countries that are not considered for the GFP annual review in the world but this is no enough to think that it is not a powerful country. Rwanda is one of those African countries that are militarily strong and boasts with a good military intelligence network and today we decide to put it o a weighing scale with the neighbors Uganda. Uganda is one of the most feared military countries in Africa besides their challenge of being landlocked, so is Rwanda. Its is reported that UPDF is one of the most highly trained military in Africa and is trained by North Korea, USA, and Russia. It is divided into 5 military branches namely Land Forces, Air Forces, Marine Forces, Special Forces Command, Reserve Force. Despite the country being landlocked, the country still has a sizeable number of Marines that operate in lake Victoria. According to the GFP index, Uganda has approximately 45-50,000 troops, including about 1,000-1,500 air and marine personnel and this is laughable according to our sources. It is believed that Uganda has about 450 and 500,000 active troops operating in different countries but a lot of information is concealed about them. It is one of the countries in Africa that send about $930 million to the defense budget every year totaling about 2.1 % of their DGP. the UPDF's inventory or military equipment is mostly Russian/Soviet-era equipment with a limited mix of more modern Russian- and Western-origin arms, China, Italy, South Africa, Poland. Since 2010, the leading suppliers of arms to the UPDF are Russia and Ukraine and it cant go without a mention that the ongoing Russia Ukraine war must have affected supply to the East African country. UPDF sits 15th on GFP rankings in Africa and boasts with 237 tanks, 1056 armored vehicles, 6 self propelled artillery, 36 towed artillery and 26 rocket projectors. The national army of the Republic of Rwanda is called Rwanda Defense Forces and as of 2021, Rwanda Defense force has approximately 33,000 active personnel, 32,000 being the land forces while 1,000 being the Air-force and this is according to the reports released by the CIA fact book. However according to many sources in Rwanda, the East African countries has close to 100,000 troops that are divided into 4 military branches namely Rwanda whose defense budget is approximately $93 million spending at least 1.2% of the countries GDP by 2019. The army is equipped with 12 main battle tanks, about 5 combat aircrafts, #updf#rdf#uganda#rwanda#rwandaarmy#ugandaarmy#ugandavsrwanda#ugandacomandos#sfc#rwandaanduganda#rwandamilitarypower#ugandamilitarypower#ugandaincongo#rwandainmozambique#rwandaincongo#muhoozikainerugaba#paulkagame#yowerimuseveni#whoiswho#compasion
