The corridor is lined with crosses as though to hold back an evil spirit. The older nun takes out a key, opens the door and tells the younger nun Victoria to trust in God before stepping inside. Soon after, the older nun falls out, badly injured and bloodied and throws the key to Victoria, telling her what she must do before being dragged inside the darkroom. Victoria, fearing that she is being pursued, flees and commits suicide by hanging herself. After she jumps out of the window, we see a demonic nun standing at the door of the room. The next morning Victoria’s body is discovered by Frenchie, a young boy who delivers supplies to the abbey. Soon after, Father Burke and Sister Irene arrive from the Vatican to investigate the suicide. Frenchie tells them that the villagers are scared to go to the abbey, and even he just goes once every three months, leaving as soon as he delivers the food. Though he is initially reluctant, he agrees to accompany them to the abbey. At the abbey , he leads them to the cold room where he left Sister Victoria’s body, but he is frightened to see it in a sitting position when he had left it in a lying position. Father Burke notices the key in Victoria’s hand and takes it but right after there is a knock on a door near them. This is the same door from which the nuns would receive supplies from Frenchie.
