The postal service planned to electrify its fleet when the automotive industry was still clinging to its combustion engines and unsure of what the future held. They built electric commercial vehicles when established automakers still considered it premature. And the inventors of StreetScooter planned affordable electric cars for the mass market when even Tesla wasn't ready. The StreetScooter story is a testament to ingenuity and innovation, but ultimately the project failed. You can see the whole story in this video.
