Mega Man X - 10HP Glitch Playthrough

I'm surprised I took this long to make this video. Also, sorry I played so damn sloppy. This game was NOT meant to be played with an xbox controller. Glitch Info: So there's a bit more to this glitch than simply entering that password you see at 0:58. If you just boot the game up, jump straight into the password menu, enter it and start, you're gonna see what I showed at 0:00. You'll start the intro stage with 0 out of 0 life and the game will immediately softlock so that it can't be played. Pretty damn boring imho. Now here's what's interesting. If you instead let the title screen sit and start showing that demo playthrough, if at any point after it starts you go back and enter this password, you'll start the intro stage with all weapons and subtanks. Once you finish the stage you'll go straight into the cutscene with Zero with all bosses defeated. You'll also notice a lack of armor upgrades. This is a pretty fun option if you wanna try and fight Sigma without boots (which IS doable) or if you just wanna dick around with different weapons on the intro stage. Most people know about that part already, but I'll probably make a video about it at some point regardless. Then there's the 10HP glitch... To do this glitch you need to wait for the title screen to start going to the demo cutscene, but just as it fades out you need to mash the start button to cancel it. This can be pretty tricky since the window to hit start is pretty small. If the screen fades to black then back to the title screen menu, you've done it right and can proceed to enter the password. If the demo playthrough starts to play whatsoever, you've done it too late. If the screen doesn't fade out and just switches to the title menu, you've pressed it too early. If you happen to mess up the timing, you can simply hit the reset to try again. There's also one more weird detail you need to know to have this glitch work. You need to make sure that only one controller is plugged into your system. I have no clue why this is a thing that matters but trust me, it wont work if you have a second controller plugged in. After I found this way to change the glitch from a "start with every weapon" to a "start with 10HP" glitch, I spent quite a long time my second play session just trying to figure out why it wasn't working anymore. The reason was my second controller being plugged into the SNES. If you're playing on an emulator I'm pretty sure the same thing applies, so just use a single controller whatever the case is. I'm not really sure who found this glitched password originally, but I know that no one really understood how to actually use it. Every mention of this password was always just some variation on the "wait for the demo playthrough", along with "wait for _____ to happen in demo", then "enter password", but that middle step is completely unnecessary. Waiting through any amount of the demo only changes one thing, and that's how much your subtanks are filled. Your subtanks on start will always be filled to match what the player in the demo scene had their tanks at when you use this password. As far as I'm aware, no one knew about the 10HP variation of this password glitch a few years ago, and I only now got around to making this video... I also haven't done any recent research to see if anyone else found this, so please feel free to tell me if anyone else has. Or don't. idfc. Go watch some Game Grumps or something.
