People of good faith, however different in their belief, must work together to celebrate their common mission of bettering their community, rather than to be divided over their differences. Ecumenical dialogue refers to cooperation among religious denominations within one faith tradition, for example, among the various Christian groups. In 1988, after years of fruitful dialogue between Roman Catholics and Episcopalians, Bishop Clark signed a special Covenant with Episcopal Bishop of Rochester William Burrill. This inter-diocesan Covenant was considered at the time ground-breaking.
