This makes a bulge in the vagina, called a prolapse. The muscles and connective tissues of the pelvic floor typically hold the pelvic organs in place. Pelvic organs include the vagina, bladder, uterus, urethra and rectum. With Wendy Powell, Founder and CEO of MUTU System. Pelvic Organ Prolapse or ‘POP’ is something all women need to get educated about. Pelvic organ prolapse occurs when the muscles and tissues supporting the pelvic organs weaken, causing organs like the bladder, uterus, or rectum to descend into the vagina. This weakening can be due to various factors, including childbirth, aging, obesity, and chronic conditions. Symptoms can range from mild pressure or heaviness in the pelvis to more severe issues like bladder and bowel incontinence or painful intercourse. Treatment options include pelvic floor exercises, pessaries, and surgery. Prevention focuses on maintaining a healthy weight, preventing constipation, and avoiding heavy lifting. 🌟 What You’ll Learn: What is Pelvic Organ Prolapse? And what are the types of prolapse?
