Amanita excelsa var. spissa, Grey Spotted Amanita. Looks very similar to the Panthercap, and is also known as the False Panthercap. This is a pretty common mushroom, with a brown or grey-brown cap, I've also seen one that was very nearly black. It can be distinguished from the Panthercap because of its grey 'spots', or remnants of the veil, whereas the Panthercap has white spots. The gills are different to most Amanitas which have free gills, these are adnexed. The ring has a grooved surface, in contrast to the Panthercap which is ungrooved.
