700 migrants feared dead off Libya's coast in a week
The United Nations has put the projected death toll of this week's boating tragedies in the Mediterranean to around seven hundred. Charity group MSF puts it closer to nine hundred. If confirmed, it would be one of the deadliest weeks for the on-going migrant and refugee crisis. The projected toll comes from three separate accidents this past week. The Italian coastguard is bearing the brunt of rescues. This week alone they saved a staggering 13 thousand people - nearly 2 thousand on Friday alone.
