The creatures in Subnautica are there to scare you, not to kill you. So I'm here to prove that by fighting a Reaper Leviathan. Rules of engagement: I can equip whatever I want on my person. I can use all tools that don't impede/harm creatures and a survival knife/thermoblade. I can't enter a base or a vehicle. I did this last year on console (PS4), and here I discovered it's much easier on PC! The Reaper and I have approximately the same damage output (since I had the thermoblade and reinforced dive suit). However, even with my 46 medkits, the Reaper's health pool is over twice as big as mine. The Reaper has 5000 hp, requiring 125 hits with the thermoblade to kill. I used 14 medkits here and ended up with 58 hp. My medkit use wasn't perfectly efficient, but that does show I took no more than 742 total damage. I chased the Reaper about 600 meters (1970 feet) from the spot I found it. I designed the Reaper's health bar to look like the in-game meters and superimposed it over the video. The music in this video is my original work (in order of appearance, Depths of Hope, Call of the Depths, Havoc of Mettle). I edited the well-known PDA sound clip about leviathans in the area, and that plays at the end. I recorded what I was saying during this fight but didn't include it since it was mostly me yelling "Get back here!" Don't fear this ocean; assert your dominance! Happy diving!
