Why Mariah Carey Is Officially Not The Queen Of Christmas
MARIAH CAREY COPYRIGHT Some people might think that Mariah Carey is the Queen of Christmas. But turns out the United States Patent and Trademark Office is not one of those people. They've just denied the US Singer's application to have this nickname officially trademarked. It all started in 1994 when Carey first released the holiday song 'All I Want for Christmas". Since then, it's become an inescapable song. In fact, it's so popular, Mariah Carey is sometimes called the 'Christmas Queen' and she wants to make it official. She's been trying for a while now to trademark the name 'Queen of Christmas" as well as other names like 'QOC' and 'Princess Christmas' so she can use them on a range of products. That would mean other artists wouldn't be able to use these nicknames. That didn't go down too well with another "Queen of Christmas" Elizabeth Chan. She only makes Christmas music and actually filed a legal opposition to Mariah Carey's trademark bid, saying people shouldn't be trying to make money off of Christmas and the holiday was big enough for 2 queens. After failing to respond to the other artist's opposition, Carey's application was denied. NOVAK DJOKOVIC Novak Djokovic is coming back to Australia. The 21-time grand slam winner was whacked with a 3-year ban from entering Australia earlier this year. It was because of issues with his COVID vaccination status and he was actually deported from the country just before the Australian Open. Now that ban has been overturned and Djokovic says he's excited to return. ARTEMIS LAUNCH After months of delays, we're finally going back to the moon with NASA's Artemis 1 rocket blasting off. It's fair to say the people at NASA seem pretty excited. The Artemis 1 rocket is called Orion, it's a test flight that will go around the moon and then come right back to Earth. The launch is the first step in NASA's plan to land people on the moon and use it as a stepping stone to go to Mars. The rocket was actually meant to blast off in August but was delayed 3 times due to technical difficulties and bad weather. This time, though, everything went to plan. The only passengers on board were these test dummies, but if everything goes well NASA's next mission Artemis 2 and 3 will have real-life people. With plans for Artemis 3 to land the first woman on the moon in around 2025. For now, though, Orion will travel about 65,000 kays beyond the moon and return to Earth in just over 25 days. BEYONCE GRAMMY Beyonce has just been nominated for a whopping 9 Grammys at next year's ceremony. Bringing her total Grammy nominations tally to 88, making her the most nominated woman in Grammy history! She's also now tied for most nominated artist in Grammy history, with none other than her husband Jay Z. VEGEMITE COIN The Royal Australian Mint has just unveiled what will be the last coin set featuring Queen Elizabeth II's face. Guess what's on the other side, Vegemite. While I'm not sure if Queen Elizabeth liked Vegemite or not, the new commemorative coin is all about celebrating the Aussie condiment's 100-year anniversary. PAKISTAN PIGEON PAGEANT And finally, say hello to the Queen - or King, I'm not sure - of the Pigeon Beauty Pageant world. Pigeon raising is a pretty popular hobby in Pakistan, with breeds like the Pomeranian Pouter selling for more than $700.
