Well, it's another great week to be on the water and the fish are definitely biting! We have some rough weather rolling in tonight. Storms coming in tomorrow. Then it tapers off the second half of Saturday and sets up for a very nice Sunday. That is if you believe the weather reports. Things can change very quickly here on the island. The waters are flooded with tons of grass shrimp and pretty much everything is feeding on them. Schoolie stripers, porgies, fluke, and of course the occasional Sea Robin is showing up for the party. My tip for this week is to find a bottleneck area with heavy water flow and a shallow area for the grass shrimp to be corralled. They are very small and not very good swimmers. The bigger fish will be waiting for them to be tossed around by the current and funneled into a feeding area. That's where the party will be! Look for an outbound tide. Where the grass shrimp will be dragged, funneled, and become an easy meal. A combo sandbar and bottleneck area is a sure thing! Pick a lure profile that's a little bigger than the baitfish but not so huge that it spooks everything away. Remember always try and match the hatch. A slightly bigger wounded looking baitfish is an easy and more satisfying meal to a predator. Too big and too much splash and your lure becomes a huge predator. Scaring everything away! If you feel like you are standing out from the environment - YOU ARE and the fish will immediately recognize that! Blend in, become one with the fish and the environment. Hope this helps you catch more fish and enjoy fishing even more! Until next time, this is Hawaiian Dan of TalkFishTV.com reminding you to remain the greatest stewards of both land and sea, to spread as much aloha as you can, and to keep those lines tight - ALOHA : ) #HawaiianDan, #TalkFishTV, #TalkFishTV.com, #Noreast.com, #NoreastFishingReports
