Kolkata - Barak Valley Train : Silchar bound KANCHANJUNGHA EXPRESS with NGC twin ALCo WDG3A (MU-ed)

25657 Sealdah - Silchar KANCHANJUNGHA EXPRESS hauled by twin Multi Unit (MU) ALCo locomotives from DLS New Guwahati (NGC): WDG3A 13015 (leading) & WDG3A 14836R (rebuilt), captured just after leaving Guwahati. There is a very interesting thing about this train ! 1. The train is hauled by an ALCo WDM3A from DLS Barddhaman (BWN), ER; from Sealdah to Malda Town 2. From Malda Town to Guwahati, it is hauled by an ALCo WDM3A / WDM3D of DLS Malda (NFR). 3. From Guwahati, the Malda based ALCo is replaced by a pair of ALCo WDG3A Multi Units from DLS New Guwahati (NGC). 4. The twin NGC WDG3A locos lead the train upto Lumding Jn. 5. At Lumding Jn, the train requires a reversal. So, the twin NGC WDG3A locos leading the train upto here become the bankers (to push the train uphill); and a new locomotive (usually an EMD locomotive) is attached to the end of the train, which actually becomes the lead loco as the train reserves its direction. 6. From Lumding to Badarpur, i.e. in the entire hill section the EMD locomotive will lead the train and the twin NGC WDG3A locos will serve as the bankers. 7. At Badarpur, another reversal is required. So, here the EMD locomotive leading the train upto here is removed and the twin NGC WDG3A locos banking the train becomes the lead locos as the train reverses its direction again. 8.
