On Friday morning, the suspect drove his car onto a curb next to a paramilitary border police station, hitting three border policewomen. He then continued down the road for about 300 metres until he reached a light rail station, where he rammed into another border policewoman and a 51-year-old male civilian on a bicycle. After crashing his car, he got out and tried to stab a passerby with a knife before he was shot and wounded by a border guard. The attack took place on the Jewish holiday of Purim, at the same border police base in northern Jerusalem on Shimon HaTzadik street that was the site of a similar attack on November 5 that killed one border police officer and injured 13 others. According to Ynet News, the suspect has been identified as Udaayi Salayma, a man in his early 20s from Ras al-Amud in East Jerusalem. Hamas praised the attack, which Israeli authorities are treating as a terror attack. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Next Media Animation’s News Direct service provides daily, high-quality, informative 3D animated news graphics that fill in for missing footage and help viewers understand breaking news stories or in-depth features on science, technology, and health.
