Informed Consent as Conscience Keeper in Hair Transplantation | Darling Buds @Chandigarh

Informed consent, hair transplant consultation and privacy issues in hair transplantation as regards hair transplant in Chandigarh in India is concerned is explained in detail by Dr Tejinder Bhatti of Darling Buds Clinic in Chandigarh, India. Informed consent is one of the fundamental principles of good clinical practice and is a legal requirement prior to conduct of surgery. Failure to do so in India is considered misconduct under Indian Medical Council Regulation 2012 that deals with professional conduct, etiquette and ethics. Since law does not provide a standard form for providing consent much thought needs to go into drafting a form best suited for your own practice. What is a good consent? A good consent should contain and confirm a full discussion on 1. The level of baldness, 2. standard treatments available 3. The doctor’s advice as suited for your level of baldness to meet your stated goals and objectives. It should include the best, the second best and maybe third best options available to the patient and the reasons why. 4. It should list potential complications and side effects even if their chances of occurrence is remote. In most reputed clinics it is not a shield and if things go wrong, telling him- “Look, I told you so!” Or as a cover up for operating in a patient not fit for hair transplant thinking “If I do not, someone else will!” Though these are expedient acts of commercial mindset, it is a recipe for disaster for any practice. The consent should merely be a ‘conscience keeper’ to maintain cordial patient – doctor relationship. An atmosphere of trust by the patient in his doctor, and full responsibility of the doctor for his work. The consent is therefore exhaustive and leaves nothing to conjecture. So essentially a consent should cover- 1. A thorough discussion between patient and doctor 2. Al modalities of treatment available and their pros and cons- medical treatment, scalp micropigmentation, etc. 3. Should cover all possible complications howsoever remote. 4. Should be in lay man’s language. 5. If the patient is illiterate or with body image disorder, a relative or friend should be witness to the informed consent. To conclude, a consent for surgery should allow the lay person to understand the procedure, risks and dangers involved, cost and need for further procedures and should not give any guarantee other than medically permissible. This sort of guarantee in the field of medicine reeks of unethical behaviour, solicitation and expediency. Clinics give such documents to rope in a patient and then when the result sets in, never pick up the phone! And if they do, make 1000 excuses. A reputed clinic never resorts to this kind f hyper sell . Good clinics have a record of happy patients easily available on their social media. They nurture rather fervently a reputation of standing by the patient if occasionally results are not the best. These clinics will do everything to correct patient’s misgivings and perhaps even do a complimentary touch up. So a consent is a conscience keeper between the patient and the doctor and is a document to ensure of sustained trust and optimal relationship and bonhomie between the two. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Know the World's TOP 25 hair transplant surgeons:    • Top 25 Hair Transplant Doctors for 2020 - ...   https://www.apetogentleman.com/worlds... https://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com... _______________________ Check these VIDEOS out as well: COST OF HAIR TRANSPLANT:    • Cost of Hair Transplant Ultimate Guide | D...   SEXUAL SIDE EFFECTS:    • Sexual Side Effects of Hair Transplant wit...   WHEY PROTEIN & HAIR LOSS:    • Whey protein, hair loss & hair transplant ...   SHARRY MANN HAIR TRANSPLANT-    • Sikh pattern traction alopecia hair transp...   100 TEMPLE TRIANGLE DESIGNS MARKED:    • Temporal Triangle Restoration in Hair Tran...   SAFE PROTOCILS FOR BODY HAIR TRANSPLANT:    • Safe Protocols in Body Hair Transplants | ...   _____________________ OUR CLINIC (SAFETY FIRST): https://darlingbuds.com/doctor-profile _______________________ FOLLOW ME!
