Designer Stephane Rolland on the catwalk STEPHANE ROLLANDE PRESENTS HAUTE COUTURE COLLECTION IN PARIS Stephane Rolland revealed his second Haute Couture collection (of his own label) today at the Hotel Westin in Paris. Jean-Louis Scherrer was the home of Rolland for several years, before he branched out on his own last year. This years collection was influenced by the Baghdad born architect Zaha Hadid's work. "She (Zaha Hadid) is a fantastic architect nowadays." Rolland told the AP. "She did the new museum of Chanel. She did so many, she built so many buildings in the world. Amazing, and when you see her work it is unbelievable. As well there is in the modern art there is and new tendence (movement) which is bio morphism and in the bio morphism all the shapes are round and really structured. And it is exactly in the same way as I did the work." Other influences throughout the collection included Picasso's famous 'Three Women', Cubism and Straight Photography by Edward Weston. Black, grey and white with touches of pale peach dominated the colour palette of the collection. Lovely french twist hair styles with dramatic make-up helped to set the tone for the show. The shapes and volumes took obvious influence in architecture. There were touches of gold and silver metallic in accessories and on the shoes. Zippers replaced buttons or clasps - revealed in a obvious manner thus becoming a part of the couture. Layering was also an important aspect of the show. Lengths varied from mini to floor length evening gowns. And even the bride carried a bouquet of structured metal flowers as the final passage of the show.
