A mixed weekend for the team and Dave's annual return from China. It began with Ryan putting it on pole in qualifying, only to bring out the red flag 1 lap later when he struck a tyre barrier and littered the track. By some kind of miracle, the pole lap remained unbeaten and we started at the front of the grid. The team were also able to repair the car, as it was mostly cosmetic and spares were on hand. The race was to be shortened to 30 minutes after a number of incidents had caused the organisers to change the schedule and there would also be no pit window for this reduced time race. Having only driven this car in the dry for the first time in a previous session that same day, Dave would nervously begin the race from the front of the grid, another first for the team. After a defensive first half lap, the Corsa of Billy Hardy tried a pass in to the Gooseneck bends, only to run across the grass, forcing Dave to back out and subsequently losing 2 places. A tight battle was then had with all the top 4 drivers for a number of laps, before a safety car came out and shook up the order. With some of the 1 driver teams having already pitted on lap 1, this handed them a huge advantage. After the safety car period, Dave stayed out to create as big a gap as possible and in the process had a great battle with Kevin Jones in a Mk3 Renault Clio. Unfortunately, Kevin would retire with an exhaust issue, putting pay to a great little fight. After handing over to Ryan for a much shorter stint, a small brush with the barrier saw the team narrowly miss out on 3rd place. The car would come home in 4th, with all 3 cars in front having stopped on lap 1. A respectable result in a challenging race, but yet again another case of what might've been.
