In this run, we beat Ocarina of Time while completing every dungeon, pausing only 2 times through the entire run. A pause is using the start button to access the menu screen to equip items, save the game or make most tricks easier via ‘pause buffering,’ and the limitation of only changing equips twice leads to many interesting challenges, and even more surprising solutions. You can watch this run with commentary from the reveal on zfg’s twitch channel with ZFG, Keeta, and the 3 TAS'ers here: / 204303826 Or Youtube Channel here: https://t.co/Q5g4yLwiSd This run is a LOTAD, or Low Optimization Tool Assisted Demonstration, which means we used savestates and frame advance to craft the inputs for this run. This is different from a Tool Assisted Speedrun in that it does not come with the high expectations which cause so many TASes to be left unfinished. This was our first ever OoT TAS, so the learning curve is very apparent, as the end of the run is much more polished. LOTAD and route by: jmarvin_, mubbsy, and Dungeonfire Special thanks to: bakeneko, N3rdswithgame, dannyb21892, Rosewater, Fig02, TaylorTotFtw, and jolin012. Shoutouts to Venick, Cafde, and Keeta for their inspiring work on low-pause challenge runs. Without the help of the OoT speedrunning community, this run could never have been made. If its desyncing during rupee collection at the beginning, load from one of the branches (such as the one on frame 74, which is the first visual frame of the run). Also 4x anisotropic rendering causes a targeting error during fire slugs on the way to the 2nd flare dancer and should be avoided. 2x was used for this encoding. FAQ: Why? Why not? Is this route version-exclusive? No; we made the LOTAD on version 1.0 because it has a fast version exclusive trick called “Down A” used to skip King Zora as Child, but everything could be done on 1.1 or 1.2 by doing Jabu as adult in 2 trips. How long did this take to create? With all three of us working on different segments, we managed to complete the entire run in just over one month. How much was frame by frame inputs vs done via RTA with controller? About 50/50. A lot of child was done RTA, but only a few parts of adult were done this way as we became more comfortable with the software. Can this be done RTA on console? If you hate yourself. Guay hover, PG actionswap, among others are likely to drive you insane before completion. Can you beat MST in 3 pauses? Shortly after we finished this TAS and our brains were free, we did solve 3 pause MST. However, it is very similar to this run for the first half so it likely won't get worked on just yet. Did you really have to do THAT trick? What!? You don’t like 23 minute guay hovers?
