A few months ago I unboxed a huge Neo Geo lot that I purchased from Japan containing 6 systems, 12 controllers and 5 games. I’ve repaired two of these systems so far, in Episode 1 and Episode 2 of this repair-a-thon. 🎮 SNK Neo Geo Repair-a-thon Ep. 2 - AES BIOS Mod Japan to USA: • SNK Neo Geo Repair-a-thon Ep. 2 - AES BIOS... 🎮 SNK Neo Geo Repair-a-thon Ep. 1 - AES Trace Repair: • SNK Neo Geo Repair-a-thon Ep. 1 - AES Trac... 🕹 Huge Retro Console Splurge from Japan Auctions: • Huge Retro Console Splurge from Japan Auct... In this week’s video I continue the Neo Geo repair-a-thon series with the remaining AES consoles in the bulk lot. These are the more recent units with serial numbers in the 180k and 220k range. For those curious about serial numbers as they relate to this system and why some are more desirable than others, I found the following websites to provides a good summary: https://www.neogeokult.com/articles-u... https://nfggames.com/games/neorgb/ In this episode I also show a way to figure out whether you have a 5V or 9V unit without opening the system, and no, you can't rely on the label on the underside of your console! It turns out that the three units in this episode are all 9V units. One of the units in this episode was particularly battered. What I thought were broken case screws was were just screws that weren’t tightened down. This problematic unit turned out to have a previous BIOS installation which included a socket upgrade. I spent a considerable amount of time inspecting and working this area of the board before I figured out the underlying cause of the problem the unit was experiencing. As of this writing, this is my favorite repair video, by a long shot. I can’t even describe how excited I was to get the faulty unit repaired and how proud I was of myself for figuring out the issue. 5 system repaired, and 2 modded. 1 more systems to go (the Neo Geo CD).
