The Amanita-Porcini Connection - Episode 20

I have observed this pattern in spots across the world: where there are Amanita muscaria (fly agaric) there are usually Boletus edulis (porcini, cep, steipilz, king bolete) somewhere nearby! Just this past season I used this pattern to stumble into some high-elevation porcini in the Coastal Range that I had previously never seen or even heard about, just by following the amanitas. After a quick check at a campground area where we spotted shrooms from the car, we stopped off at Newport to check out what Yaquina Bay has to offer!
