Watchtower's Secret Newspaper (Discussion 05)

The St. Paul Enterprise (later renamed as The New Era Enterprise) was a private newspaper which was distributed to Watchtower readers around the world every week for nearly two decades. This paper started independently and remained semi-independent until it's demise. The Enterprise had stories, photos, letters, and Want Ads, from the Watchtower readers of the time period as well as 'new light' on Watchtower history that was previously unknown. The archives of this paper has become a boon for historical research in recent years for both Jehovah's Witnesses and Ex-Jehovah's Witnesses for more detail into the 1910s-1920s period of the Society's history. In this discussion we explain what the paper is, how it was founded, share some of the interesting stories, letters, and want ads, a funny story about Miracle Wheat, new information about Russell's grave and cemetery plot, as well as some of the controversial stories which sheds new light on some areas of Watchtower history. Some of these stories have been mentioned in previous discussions and future discussions will contain information found in these papers. "We Stand at Armageddon", E. H.
