BNSF 3148 East at Malden, Illinois on 8-10-2010

Pulling four cars out of Malden, Illinois, this EMD GP50 will take them about 3 miles east to the Zearing interchange yard. After that it's back to Mendota for 3148. After I video'd the grain train near Arlington, scanner chatter indicated that this unit was enroute to Malden for a pickup. So I quickly packed up and scurried farther west in hopes of catching the single EMD. Just as I arrived, the dispatcher gave the crew permission for a eastward move to Zearing. I had barely enough time to get set up. A friendly BNSF signal maintenance guy showed up just as the train approached and turned on his truck's external speaker.
