LOG Divine Easter Sunday Festival Worship Service 11 AM on 4-20-25

We begin our Easter Festival Service with the Hymn #457 "Jesus Christ Is Risen Today". We responsively read Psalm 118:15-24 extoling that God who disciplines but does not give us over to eternal death but comes to be our salvation. We then sing our Hymn of Praise #488 "He Is Arisen! Glorious Word" Our Old Testament Lesson is Job 19:20-27 where Job, in the midst of intense pain and persecution which he believes comes by the hand of God gives the great testament of faith "I know my Redeemer lives, and at the end He shall stand upon the earth and I will see Him with my own eyes. Our Epistle Lesson is 1 Corinthians 15:50-57 where Paul explains how when Christ returns, at the twinkling of an eye, all the faithful will be clothed in eternal imperishable bodies. The Hallelujah Ringers offer to us the anthem "Jesus Christ is Risen Today". Our Gospel Lesson is John 20:1-18 and is John's account of Jesus' resurrection and His appearance to comfort Mary Magdalene at the tomb. The Sermon Hymn is #490 "Jesus Lives! The Victory's Won". The Sermon is drawn from 1 Corinthians 15"51-54 "In the Blink of an Eye." Here I meditate on how sometimes things in our lives change slowly, and sometimes God works slowly. But on the Last Day God's eternal gifts will manifest all around us in the blink of an eye. The Hallelujah Ringers offer to us the Offertory Anthem "Prelude on the Lamb of God" Our Communion Hymns are: #461 I Know That My Redeemer Lives, #466 "Christ Has Arisen, Alleluia", and #676 "Behold a Host, Arrayed in White" Our Closing Hymn is #548 Thanks to Thee, O Christ, Victorious"
