Vice-Chancellor Stresses Sustainability as SKUAST-K Hosts Mega Plantation Drive at Faculty of Forestry, Benhama Watlar, Ganderbal Ganderbal, March 28: The Faculty of Forestry, Benhama Watlar, under Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir, successfully organized a Mega Plantation Drive themed “For a Greener Tomorrow” at the Faculty Campus today. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and notably, school children from nearby institutions, who actively took part in the plantation activities, reflecting a strong commitment towards environmental conservation from a young age. The programme was graced by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai, as the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, he highlighted the crucial role of the university in promoting a sustainable environment through research, education, and community outreach. He emphasized that such plantation drives are vital in combating climate change, improving ecological balance, and fostering environmental responsibility among youth. Prof. Ganai further elaborated on the objectives of the plantation drive, stating that the initiative aims to enhance green cover, create awareness about environmental protection, and encourage collective action towards sustainable living. The event concluded with the plantation of a large number of saplings across the campus, symbolizing a shared commitment to building a greener and healthier future.
