The Young Ones, written by Rik Mayall, Lise Mayer, and Ben Elton was about four students who shared a grotty house. Rik, an anarchist poet; Neil, the hippy; Mike The Cool person; and Vyvyan, a medical student with violent tendencies. For a show that only ran 12 episodes, its influence on British Comedy has been enormous. Which sounds a bit rude.
