The photon stream is a mysterious layer of creation that ARKS harness to cast Techniques. On rare occasions, these channeled photons carry the echoes of their brief time on Halpha back into the stream. The memories of those glimpses into another world become an emptiness in unawakened photons. When Miku finds a mysterious device that allows for the manipulation of photonic life, she quickly finds herself in over her head. Carbon, a bodiless, sentient photonic lifeform within the device, exerts her influence over Miku and her friends in an attempt to create a photonic awakening.
