World Championship Ice Swimming - Molveno 2025 - The Fast and the Frozen

The Fast and The Frozen is a sports documentary that follows the journey of Anneke Veenstra and Bethany Rogers, two ice swimmers from Queenstown, New Zealand. As members of the national ice swimming team the Frozen Ferns, and the Dutch ice swimming team, they trained in the frigid waters of Lake Wakatipu, preparing for the ultimate challenge: the 2025 International Ice Swimming Association World Championships in Molveno, Italy. Facing water temperatures as low as 1°C, Anneke and Bethany pushed their physical and mental limits in a sport where competitors swim unassisted in near-freezing conditions, wearing only a standard swimsuit, silicone cap, and goggles. Their training paid off as the Frozen Ferns team achieved remarkable success, securing over 50 medals and breaking multiple world records during the championships . The film captures not only the intense competition but also the team work and resilience of athletes who thrive in these extreme temperatures. Anneke and Bethany’s adventure doesn’t just showcase grit in icy water — it reveals the strength, humour, and drive behind two athletes with a passion for ice.
