Format: a/ Listen to the expert talk and choose the best answer that is true based on what you hear. b/ Listen to the talk with the scripts and check your answers. 1. Prepare for your test or exam in English as a Second Language. The best way to prepare for the listening section of such exams is to practice with sample questions, analyze the answers, and learn useful vocabulary by using the script. In some exams, you can see the answer choices while listening to the recording. In others, you will only see the answer choices after the recording. These different formats will require different practice techniques. In the first case, there are two ways you can go about it. One way is to quickly go through the options before the recording has started so you are prepared what to focus on. However, this might turn out to be confusing for most people as not everybody is good at multitasking. Other than that, you might miss important information from the recording if it starts playing and you are not done reading the options. In my experience, what works for most people is working on their memorization, analytical and critical thinking skills when dealing with listening comprehension questions. What this means is that you will have to rely on your memory to capture key details and the main idea of what you hear. We often refer to this as 'the five Wh-s': Who? What? Where? When? Why? Essentially, you don't have to memorize what was said word for word. Once you understand everything, it will be easier to answer the multiple-choice question. Of course, if you're good at note-taking, you can always take notes of key information you want to remember. But again, this also involved multitasking and the risk of missing important details while taking notes. So this is a separate skill of its own which you need to master so you can be confident you can rely on your note-taking skills without compromising your understanding of the whole conversation. 2. Improve your general listening comprehension in English. Using listening practice videos will not only improve your listening but your speaking too. Studies show that listening is directly linked to improved speaking skills. The reason for this is because as we speak we tend to imitate speech patterns we have been exposed to, including the grammar, vocabulary, intonation, accent etc of the speakers we have been listening to. The way you can do that with this video is: listen to the recording answer the questions check your answers review the script take note of important expressions you would like to remember try to put those expressions into sentences of your own, related to your personal context (work, home, everyday experiences, etc) If you found this video useful, please subscribe to my channel:    / @tutornadeen   Listening practice with short conversations (everyday topics):    • English Listening Practice - Short Convers...   More practice with TOEFL Lectures (academic topics) :    • TOEFL Listening Practice | Lectures (Pre 2...   If you need, private instruction and guided one-on-one practice: Get help with English exams: http://tutornadeen.com/exam-english Free 15-min consultation: http://tutornadeen.com/consultation You can also follow me on social media: Facebook:   / tutor.nadeen   Twitter: https://twitter.com/tutornadeen?lang=en Instagram:   / tutornadeen
