Rust in SUSE - past, present, future

Thanks to our conference sponsor, arm : https://arm.com Hosting provided by BigBlueButton (  / bigbluebutton  ) and Blindside Networks(  / blindsidenetwks  ) Rust is a modern systems programming language that promises to deliver safety, concurrency and performance without compromises. It has been the most loved language multiple years in a row (stackoverflow) and has a growing community, and growing list of projects using Rust every day. We are also seeing for the first time, projects like the Linux Kernel and Grub potentially accepting and containing Rust components. As this language grows in significance for our distribution and projects, it becomes important for us to understand the project, it's quirks and it's community. In this talk I will discuss how Rust was managed in OpenSUSE in the past by the community, what has occurred in the last year for OpenSUSE and SUSE, and what the future holds and how it aligns with SUSE's goals for SLE, and our community of developers.
