TZ Pin2DMD

TZ Pin2DMD

I recently fitted a Pin2DMD to my TZ (Twilight Zone) pinball game. Set to White color only and on low brightness. You can buy a kit quite cheaply, and find one already assembled and ready to install for around $200-250. They are full color capable. Users supply their own colorization files using an editor. It's a lot of work to get the colors and frames of all the possible gameplay right. One note: Do NOT try to run it from your +12v or +5v pinball board supplies. You are likely to stress those boards and hurt your game. Buy a dedicated supply: I paid $13 For a12v supply shipped on Amazon. One of the main advantages to an LED DMD is that you don't need the HV display driver so you can take out fuses F601 and F602 on your TZ DMD driver board. Less heat, less to go wrong. I really like the fact it's actually LED DOTs. The camera focus of my iPhone video DOES NOT do the display justice, it's really nice looking and quite sharp. To be honest, I could have added the ColorDMD LED version, but that's $600+ I have them installed in 2 Games- Ironman (ColorDMD Large Dots) and AFM (ColorDMD LED) http://www.colordmd.com Both are really nice and the colorization is complete and very well executed, but they are too expensive to put in every game. For the price, I can buy 3 Pin2DMD LED displays demonstrated here. Enjoy and Happy Flipping!
