20200406 PhD defense Dr Danial Afsharzadeh

On Monday 6 April 2020, due to the corona crisis, Danial Afsharzadeh was the first PhD candidate to defend his thesis at the University of Groningen in an entirely web-based ceremony. Only he, the rector and the beadle were present in the regular defense room (Aula of the Academy Building). All opponents and opponents were connected via Google Hangouts while everybody else could follow it via a life stream on the web. The successful defense was followed by a 'Zoom' after party.
