The act of ushering in a new year is not complete without the NHL Winter Classic on NBC. To start 2020, the yearly event traveled down to Cotton Bowl Stadium on the Texas State Fairgrounds. Amongst a full fleet of technology, many major debuts were made including the Peacock Pit Box, two new jib cameras, and an unprecedented look inside the NHL Replay room. At the legendary Cotton Bowl Stadium in Dallas, SVG Associate Editor Kristian Hernandez spoke with James Stuart, senior director, operations, NBC Sports Group about the new technology used at the New Year's Day tradition, how the 90-year-old venue offered some production hurdles, and why this event has become such a huge property for the network.
