Finally got time to play the new modes! They made Genichiro better, but only just a little. The old strategy still works, with a few adjustments here and there: 1. He usually opens up the fight with his new move, the Sakura Dance. Sadly, my strategy only allows him to do this move once. I wish they integrated it into the usual back and forth, maybe as a response to a parry. Timing it is pretty easy, and the third slash can be dodged through to continue my attack. 2. They tweaked his multi-slash combo - creating too much distance makes him do a new combo. Parrying this may cause him to follow up with the Sakura Dance. My simple solution is to dodge back once when he winds up, wait for the second slash, then slowly walk backward. This causes him to think I'm still in range of the old combo, which I can easily punish. If you're in the middle of the arena, you can also jump on him and press forward, and you will end up behind him (if you do this by the wall, you will end up in his line of sight and it won't work.) The Fire Mist Raven (forward, to end up behind him) + Chasing Slice also works against his new 5-slash follow up. 3. I find it much more dangerous to stomp on his head during his red-icon sweeps in phase 3, because it allows him to follow it up with a backstep+double bow attack that has hyperarmor. Good thing I never really liked stomping on him, and Mid-air Nightjar is my preferred response. It worked then, still works now. They also gave him his own Chasing Slice, not that it matters. If you stay close to him, he'll never get to use it.
