Xi'an outbreak: Chinese city of 13 million enters 12th day of lockdown

The Xi'an outbreak is the worst China has seen in months. On Monday, China reported 101 new local cases of Covid-19, down from 131 a day earlier. The vast majority of new cases are still in the northern city of Xi'an, a major industrial and tech hub that is home to 13 million people. China has been going all out to end the Xi'an outbreak ahead of the Beijing Winter Olympics. Since December 23, this metropolis of millions has been in lockdown. Residents are forbidden from leaving their homes, unless for a Covid-19 test. There has been public shaming of people accused of breaching pandemic safety laws. At the weekend, a city official signaled a relaxation of its strict pandemic rules. Meanwhile, Hong Kong -- with its fate tied to "Zero Covid" China -- is banning additional flights to the city from San Francisco and elsewhere. CNN's Kristie Lu Stout reports.
