Episode 17 with Rutger Bruining | Founder & CEO at StoryTerrace

In Episode 17, Simon talks to Rutger Bruining, the founder of Story Terrace, a personal biography service that helps people turn their life story into a book. You might recognise Rutger from his appearance on the BBC's Dragon Den in April 2019, where he secured a deal with Dragon, Tej Lalvani. Rutger talks about his Dragon Den's experience, why he eventually turned down Tej Lalvani's offer, how he got the idea for Story Terrace, why it took him so long to finally start his own business and his own encounter with the SARS virus in China in 2003. /// About Rutger Bruining ---- Rutger graduated with a degree in Business Economics from the University of Amsterdam and in 2004 started working as a strategy consultant for Booz Allen Hamilton. Three years later he moved to New York for an MBA at Columbia University, after which he became Investment Director at Arle Capital (formerly Candover) in London. In 2013 he quit his job in private equity to focus on his love for history and stories: he founded Story Terrace. Rutger likes sports and travelling; on the top of his wish list are Australia and Uganda.  ➜ Want to tell your story with Story Terrace?
