WHY WE REJECT THE FIVE SOLAS

WHY WE REJECT THE FIVE SOLAS

In this powerful sermon, Bishop Joseph explains why the Western Orthodox Church cannot accept the Five Solas of the Lutheran Reformation or the Protestant principle of sola scriptura, which separates Scripture from the historic mind of the Undivided Church. While we honor the deep love for Christ and Scripture among our Protestant brethren (Mark 12:30), we also must speak clearly: the Protestant Reformation replaced the apostolic foundation (Ephesians 2:20) with private judgment, leading to division and doctrinal confusion. Scripture itself warns that “no prophecy of the Scripture is of any private interpretation” (2 Peter 1:20) and that the Church is “the pillar and ground of the truth” (1 Timothy 3:15). The Solas isolate faith, grace, and Christ from the sacramental and conciliar life of the Church, fragmenting what God has joined together. The Apostles taught both by word and epistle (2 Thessalonians 2:15), and the early Church was devoted to the apostles’ doctrine, the breaking of bread, and the prayers (Acts 2:42). We call all sincere Christians to return not to the innovations of the 16th century, but to the faith once delivered unto the saints (Jude 1:3), preserved in the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church. The Reformation was not a return to early Christianity - it was a departure from it. #WesternOrthodox #AncientChurchoftheWest #RejectTheFiveSolas #LutheranHeresy #FaithOfTheFathers #SolaScripturaRefuted #OrthodoxApologetics #ReturnToTheChurch #UndividedChurch #CatholicFaithOrthodoxDoctrine #TrueChristianUnity #ApostolicFaith #ReformationErrors #OrthodoxTruth #HistoricChristianity
