Feb. 1, 2020: The forum invited the public to attend a talk titled “Between Competition and Cooperation: The Future of the U.S.-China Relationship”. As the bilateral relationship between the U.S. and China enters uncharted waters, the path to a new relationship is highly dependent on whether or not we can forge cooperation between two competitive giants of a nation. A panel of experts, including Stephen Hadley, former national security advisor to President Bush, James Steinberg, former deputy national security advisor to President Clinton, and Chinese Ambassador Cui Tiankai othered insights into how the U.S. and China can restrain competitive excesses, sustain cooperative energy and work out a modus vivendi given their increasingly divergent interests. https://chinaforum.ucsd.edu/index.php
