This meant sitting down and listening very carefully to every detail of what makes a song work and what they did to the song to keep me listening over and over again. It was also a great way to try and learn new techniques. A lot of engineers won't tell people what they did so you have to listen and then try a recreate those sounds yourself. As a side benefit, I found that it increased my love of music and my love of all music. When I grew up I was very much listening to one or two genres and hated all other music. While for general pleasure I might still do the same I can now also appreciate aspects of almost every piece of music created. Even if I don't like the song I can hear elements that I do enjoy and are amazed at. To some, it might seem very obvious how to analyze a song and work out all the elements but to others new to the game it isn't. This is why I created this guide. I want everyone to be able to learn from the professionals and to grow as an artist or music creator so they can be proud of their achievements no matter how experienced they are.
