(3 Feb 2011) HEADLINE: Court halts ballots without Emanuel's name CAPTION: The Illinois Supreme Court has halted the Chicago board of elections from printing any mayoral ballots without Rahm Emanuel's name on them. (Jan. 25) NB. THIS IS A VOICEOVER TRANSCRIPT, NOT A FULL SHOT LIST Rahm Emanuel is back on the ballot, as least for now. Tuesday the Illinois Supreme Court halted the printing of any Chicago mayoral ballots without Emanuel's name on them. The former White House chief of staff had been ruled ineligible to run by an appeals court because he didn't live in the city for a year before the February 22nd vote. Emanuel challenged that ruling Tuesday, saying he believes he fits the qualifying rules. SOT Emanuel The position that we've taken, that working for president Obama as his chief of staff, at his request does not mean I gave up my residency. Two - that owning a home here with things like my wife's wedding dress in the house, paying property taxes, voting, means I didn't give up my residency. To be sure the court's ruling that his name must appear on any ballots doesn't guarantee that he'll be on the final ones that voters cast. The court has yet to decide whether to even take up the case at all. In the meantime Emanuel says he will continue campaigning.
