PV Sindhu beats Japanese rival to lift third Macau Open title

PV Sindhu has lifted the Macau Open Grand Prix Gold Badminton tournament for the third consecutive time. In the title clash this morning, Sindhu, seeded fifth, defeated lower placed Minatsu Mitani of Japan, 21-9, 21-23, 21-14. This was Sindhu's first title of the season and the fifth overall. World number one Saina Nehwal did not take part in the competition, while none of the Indian shuttlers, besides Sindhu, could cross the quarter-final stage.
