Thailand is closing its Maya Bay to repair destruction by tourists | Skymet Weather

Thailand’s world-famous Maya Bay is rejoicing over return of sharks. Black-tipped reef sharks had almost disappeared till sometime back. In view of this, Thailand had banned tourists for indefinite period for rehabilitation. Maya Bay was damaged by years of over tourism after the island featured in the film ‘The Beach’. Thereafter, the coral reef was damaged by tourists and pollutions from boats, litter and sunscreen.
