(27 Jan 2018) Palestinian protesters on Saturday burned effigies of US President Donald Trump and US Vice President Mike Pence, in anger over the American administration's policies toward Palestinians. The protesters held a mock trial and execution of the US leaders. Trump announced at the World Economic Forum on Thursday that the US would withdraw aid from Palestine if they did not resume negotiations with Israel. The protest, which took place at Aida Refugee Camp in the West Bank, involved masked protesters looping nooses around the effigies which were then hoisted up and burned. Demonstrators also held signs protesting against the US's recognition last year of Jerusalem as Israel's capital. Trump's pivot on Jerusalem angered the Palestinians, prompting them to reject the US as an honest peace broker.
