Following on the heels of our last discussion of Coherent Breathing protocol and the relaxation response, here I continue the discussion of "sinusoidal action". The reason this is important is that the body/mind is already arranged to breathe in a sinusoidal manner - though most of us don't know it. Here I mean the construct of the chest, diaphragm, abdomen are arranged such that muscular action is required to inhale, but muscular action is not required to exhale - exhalation occurs automatically due to the elasticity of the chest, rib cage, diaphragm, etc., and it we listen to it, we can discern that exhalation already follows a sinusoidal pattern - because it is the most efficient action in nature. We can practice incorporating this into our Coherent Breathing practice with the advantage that it moves the most air and fluid in the body with the least effort. It is the most efficient way to breathe. I hope you find this interesting and useful. Wishing you wellness, Stephen Elliott President & Life Scientist, COHERENCE Coherent Breathing
